After the completion of the following Programs: The Dog Team will receive: Dog Vest, ID Card, Cert

Here are four separate 7-week courses tailored for training dogs and their owners to achieve specific certifications:


Course 1: Service Dog Certification Training (7 Weeks)


Week 1: Introduction to Service Dog Training

  • Overview of service dog roles and legalities (ADA guidelines).
  • Basic commands: Sit, Stay, Down, Come.
  • Focus on positive reinforcement techniques


Week 2: Public Access Training I

  • Teaching calm behavior in public spaces.
  • Exposure to various environments: stores, restaurants, and public transportation.
  • Desensitization to distractions (noise, crowds, other animals)


Week 3: Advanced Obedience and Task Training

  • Heel, Leave It, and Watch Me commands.
  • Introduction to specific service tasks based on owner needs (e.g., retrieving items, pressing buttons).
  • Building duration for tasks


Week 4: Task-Specific Training

  • Deep focus on owner-specific tasks (e.g., seizure alert, mobility assistance).
  • Practice tasks in real-life scenarios


Week 5: Public Access Training II

  • Controlled behavior around people, children, and other animals.
  • Managing distractions while maintaining task focus


Week 6: Emergency Training and Problem Solving

  • Training for emergencies (owner falls, medical alerts).
  • Addressing problem behaviors (e.g., pulling on leash, barking)


Week 7: Certification Preparation and Evaluation

  • Mock certification tests for service dog behavior.
  • Feedback and final adjustments.
  • Official evaluation for certification readiness.


Course 2: Emotional Support Certification Training (7 Weeks)


Week 1: Building Trust and Bond

  • Establishing a strong bond between dog and owner.
  • Basic commands: Sit, Down, Stay, Come.
  • Introduction to emotional cues and calming behaviors


Week 2: Sensitivity Training

  • Teaching dogs to recognize emotional distress cues.
  • Developing consistent responses to owner's emotional needs


Week 3: Obedience and Socialization

  • Reinforcing obedience in various settings.
  • Socializing dogs to people, pets, and environments


Week 4: Deepening Emotional Support Roles

  • Practicing grounding techniques (e.g., deep pressure therapy).
  • Teaching dogs to provide comfort during anxiety or panic attacks

Week 5: Public Behavior and Focus

  • Ensuring calm behavior in public areas.
  • Training dogs to ignore distractions and focus on their owner

Week 6: Emergency Support Scenarios

  • Preparing dogs for emergency situations.
  • Addressing owner safety and situational awareness

Week 7: Certification Preparation and Testing

  • Simulated certification tests.
  • Owner-dog interaction evaluation.
  • Official assessment and feedback.


Course 3: Therapy Dog Certification Training (7 Weeks)


Week 1: Introduction to Therapy Dog Roles

  • Overview of therapy dog duties and settings (e.g., hospitals, schools).
  • Basic obedience: Sit, Stay, Heel, Down, Come


Week 2: Socialization and Interaction

  • Training for calm and friendly interactions with strangers.
  • Exposure to diverse environments and sensory stimuli


Week 3: Handling and Advanced Obedience

  • Walking on a loose leash and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Ignoring distractions and maintaining focus on handler


Week 4: Therapy-Specific Scenarios

  • Role-playing therapy visits (e.g., interacting with patients, children).
  • Practicing gentle behavior around fragile individuals


Week 5: Public Access Training

  • Training for public spaces such as hospitals, nursing homes, and libraries.
  • Learning to navigate tight spaces and follow commands


Week 6: Stress Management and Emergency Preparedness

  • Teaching dogs to remain calm under stress.
  • Preparing for emergency scenarios in therapy settings


Week 7: Certification Evaluation

  • Mock therapy dog evaluation.
  • Final feedback and adjustments.
  • Certification readiness assessment.


Course 4: Canine Civilian Certification Training (7 Weeks)


(Equivalent to Canine Good Citizen Certification)

Week 1: Foundations of Obedience

  • Basic commands: Sit, Stay, Down, Come.
  • Introduction to leash manners and walking on a loose leash.


Week 2: Socialization and Interaction

  • Calm behavior around other dogs and people.
  • Greeting strangers politely without jumping.


Week 3: Distraction Training

  • Teaching focus around distractions (noises, other animals).
  • Building impulse control with Leave It and Drop It commands.


Week 4: Advanced Obedience

  • Reinforcing commands with duration and distance.
  • Recall training: Coming when called in various environments.


Week 5: Public Behavior

  • Practicing calm behavior in public areas.
  • Training for proper responses to unexpected stimuli


Week 6: Problem Solving and Troubleshooting

  • Addressing common problem behaviors (e.g., barking, pulling on leash).
  • Building confidence in challenging scenarios


Week 7: Certification Testing

  • Mock tests for Canine Good Citizen certification.
  • Final feedback and adjustments.
  • Official evaluation for certification readiness.
